Jim McElwain's wife reportedly received threatening message while his quarterback dealt with vulgar disparagement

This is awful.

Many people were taken aback back in October when Florida head coach (at the time) Jim McElwain said that his family and some of his players had received death threats. Afterward, he was asked by Florida officials to provide some evidence and he reportedly did not give them anything else.

It appears that now those threats were very real and ESPN published a report that stated McElwain's wife had received a threatening message on Facebook. Yahoo's Pat Forde also did some research on quarterback Feleipe Franks' Instagram and found more threatening messages and harsh language. Here are only a few of them:

"If i was your coach I would pay them to hurt you."

"F— you I hope you die b—-."

"Can you please just leave the program, you're aids."

"I WISH YOU WERE NEVER BORN."

There is never a reason to use language like this when speaking to another person and to talk like that about a college athlete is just unacceptable. And to go after a coach's wife is absolutely off limits at all times and just despicable behavior, no matter how poorly the team might be doing. Football is a game and ultimately it needs to be treated as such, not life or death for some people.
