LSU’s first three games in the post-Les Miles era opened the eyes of many across the country that the Tigers may have had a chance to beat the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Saturday night washed away any of those thoughts, as the offense reverted to a run game that couldn’t move anything on Alabama and yet another quarterback who couldn’t get anything going against the Tide’s elite secondary.

After the loss, Fox Sports’ Clay Travis couldn’t get the words on paper soon enough how absurd he perceived the thought of LSU hiring Ed Orgeron as the full-time coach.

“Only LSU could fire the most successful coach in program history and replace him with a guy who went 3-21 in the SEC in three seasons as a head coach at Ole Miss.

“Put simply, I can’t believe that anyone with a functional brain would consider Orgeron at LSU.”

Travis went on to note he could see LSU falling apart down the stretch and losing at Arkansas and at Texas A&M in the next few weeks. As for a suggestion for the team’s next head coach, Travis questioned if the Tigers planned to hire an SEC assistant, why wouldn’t they go after Orgeron’s buddy, Lane Kiffn? The Tigers would then have a solid offense, while likely retaining Oregon.

With LSU’s College Football Playoff dreams out of reach, the Tigers will look to close out the season on a high note, with matchups at Arkansas, a chance to ruin Florida’s SEC title hopes at home, then an away contest at Texas A&M.
