Report: LSU to "split" with one of their coordinators following the Citrus Bowl

Well that didn't last long.

Well this relationship didn't last long.

According to Ross Dellenger of the Advocate, LSU is expected to split with offensive coordinator Matt Canada following the Citrus Bowl game against Notre Dame.

Canada was with Pitt in 2016 before LSU hired him. The Tigers gave him one of the richest coordinator contracts in all of football, but Dellenger reports that the relationship between Canada and head coach Ed Orgeron quickly soured early this season. Dellenger pointed to the infamous Troy game, where Orgeron admitting to meddling with Canada's offense in the first half of that game. LSU was shutout in the first half of what wound up being a 24-21 loss for the Tigers.

Canada's career includes stops at Indiana, Wisconsin, N.C. State, and Pitt, all as offensive coordinator. Canada is due all of the remaining $3 million on his contract unless he signs with another school.
