LSU may still be down a defensive starter ahead of Mississippi State game

They could really use him.

LSU might have gotten a huge piece of its defense back in Arden Key, but it looks like one player won't be making it back onto the field. Defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence's status is still up in the air though according to coach Ed Orgeron.

"I don't know if Rashard Lawrence will play this week," Orgeron said.

He missed the game against Chattanooga on Saturday and it sounds like he could be doubtful to play against Mississippi State this week. Lawrence suffered a minor leg injury in the win over BYU and was spotted in a walking boot leading up to the Chattanooga game.

Sophomore Glen Logan stepped in to start in his place. Senior Deondre Clark and freshmen Neil Farrell and Justin Thomas saw time as backups in the 45-10 win over the Mocs.

As a freshman last year, he recorded six tackles, one tackle for loss and a sack in nine games. He is expected to be a major part of the defense this year with some losses to graduation and the NFL Draft from last year's squad.
