This is a truly sad day.

UPDATE: Mike VI has passed away according to a release from LSU:

Live mascot Mike VI has been a part of the LSU family since 2007 when he officially became the school's mascot. He debuted in October of that year against the Florida Gators when they came to town and has been going strong ever since. However, he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in May of this year.

He was taken into hospice care on Monday and won't be seen at his outdoor habitat again so LSU took some pictures of his last day outside and they are incredibly touching.

This is so sad to hear for such an awesome mascot and Mike VI has been given two more months to live.
