One unlikely team is calling their shot with a College Football Playoff banner in the weight room

It's not a bad thing to aim high.

The great majority of FBS college football programs set their goals quite high at the outset of every season. It may not be overly realistic for every program to believe that reaching the College Football Playoff is achievable but, especially at the highest level of the sport, it makes all the sense in the world to aim high before September even arrives.

That is apparently the case for Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats in 2017, as ESPN's Rece Davis snapped a photo of a very interesting piece of wall decoration in Lexington.

Kentucky finished the 2016 campaign with a winning record at 7-6 in 2016 and that is no small feat in the SEC. The good folks in the handicapping industry have installed the Wildcats with a 7-win over/under total this season (via Bovada) and, while that doesn't always bring a ton of optimism to the table, it isn't too crazy to think that Kentucky could impress given their recent uptick in talent.

Are the Wildcats going to reach the College Football Playoff? Probably not but there is absolutely nothing wrong with shooting your shot, as they say. If they don't make the top four, Kentucky won't be alone and it is (very) safe to say that they won't be the only program that listed this as a goal in the preseason.
