ESPN's top recruit names surprising program as his 'dream school'

Not sure anyone would have thought this.

Xavier Thomas is the top recruit in ESPN's rankings for the class of 2018 and his recruitment is believed to be down to just Clemson and South Carolina with an outside chance that Alabama steals him away. The Florence, S.C. native is playing his senior year in Bradenton, Fla. at the IMG Academy to hopefully become even better, but is already looking forward to heading back to South Carolina.

Thomas spoke to DawgNation and said that there is one school out there he likes the most and even described it as his "dream school."

"USC has been my dream school, so them telling me I can come there and be the face of the program is big," Thomas said. However, Clemson is offering something similar as he would be able to come in as a freshman and make a difference like Dexter Lawrence did this past season.

The 6'3", 259-pound defensive end has offers from almost 30 schools including Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida, FSU and others. But it sounds like he's set on which state he's heading to at the very least. The 247 crystal ball has Clemson as the favorite to land him at 71 percent with the Gamecocks at 24 percent and Florida State at five percent.
