Tennessee safety Todd Kelly updated his status following reports that he was taken to a local hospital on Thursday night.
Kelly tweeted that his injured knee "gave out" and resulted in him "slipping and falling." However the safety confirmed that he is "doing well" and is "looking forward to returning next season."
The Read Optional's Trey Wallace reported that Kelly stayed overnight at a Tennessee Medical Center while dealing with injuries on Friday, adding that the senior safety fell prior to being rushed to the hospital.
Kelly underwent surgery on a dislocated knee in October, which effectively ended his season. The injury occurred early enough into the season that he will be able to opt for a medical redshirt and could earn an extra year of eligibility.
The former four-star prospect appeared in 40 games and recorded 153 total career tackles during his collegiate career.
During Tennessee's season opener against Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Kelly came off the bench and recorded three tackles. He also had four additional tackles against Indiana State during the Vols' home opener in Week 2.
