Title odds for next year’s college championship game are already out, showing a quick riser behind Alabama

Could this one team be better than Alabama?

The college football season came to a close following the national title game pitting Alabama against Clemson, making way for odds on who'll be next season's national champion. And there's one team that could surprise.

Florida State, which beat Michigan  33-32 in a thrilling Orange Bowl, has vaulted behind Alabama in the very early odds. And that's not all. USAToday, with it's way-to-early 2017 Top 25, has the Seminoles ranked No. 1, and Alabama, No. 2.

Those lofty expectations seem warranted. The 'Noles will return one of the more talented groups in the country that's supplemented by five-star running back stud Cam Akers. Akers is so good —- he's the No. 2 RB and No. 4 overall player —- that there's even talk he could be a Heisman contender.

Following Alabama and FSU, traditional powers Ohio State, USC, and Oklahoma all have 8-1 odds, followed by several teams that are bunched in one way or another.

Clearly, a lot can change between now and the start of games in August. Still, this is fun to debate.
