Top 10 CB recruit shockingly spurns USC for non-powerhouse

No one saw this coming!

The Crystal Ball over at 247Sports isn't always accurate, but when they list a 100-percent odds for a recruit going to a school, they generally know what's up.

Not here, though, as consensus four-star cornerback Jaylon Johnson (6-foot-1, 181 pounds, Fresno, CA) was projected at 100-percent odds to go to USC. Instead, Johnson will be going to a Pac-12 rival that's not exactly known as a powerhouse: Utah.

Utah has done well in the Pac-12 over the past few years, but this is still a huge commitment for the Utes. Johnson is their highest-rated commit by over 400 spots in the 247Sports recruiting rankings — four hundred spots!

Utah may not be a powerhouse now, but if they keep performing well and getting recruits like Johnson on board, then they might have something going for them.
