Details on Dragon’s Dogma’s console release revealed – along with everything else

Although a release date has only been confirmed for Japan, a western launch is expected to follow shortly.

A new trailer has surfaced featuring gameplay of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and while it's entirely in Japanese, the message is still clear; the award-winning RPG is coming to consoles (in Japan, at least). You can check out the video below, but be warned - it contains MAJOR spoilers that reveal details both about the game's plot and its many boss fights. If you haven't played Dragon's Dogma yet, you can watch the original trailer from last year instead.

Here's the actual video for those still undeterred:

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen originally released in early 2016 as a remastered version for PC, where it won over many players for its rich and engaging combat. The original release before even that was way back in 2012.

Despite the favorable reception, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen has nevertheless been a bit of a polarizing title in the gaming community; the action is either a delightful challenge or a shallow mess depending on who you speak to, although on the subject of the game's story most players will agree that it's a bit of a disappointment.

The title will release on October 5 later this year in Japan. The game's been updated visually once again as well for modern consoles; the official title is now Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Remastered - though you'd probably be safe to just keep calling it Dragon's Dogma, if you prefer.

There's been little concrete details on a release date for the west beyond a vague promise that it'll arrive sometime in the Fall. For future news, follow the developers on the game's official Twitter account, where news and media content is regularly released.
