Free content will soon be dropping for indie favorite Hollow Knight

In the subterranean world of Hollownest, it's so easy to fall prey to the ancient city's many threats.

We're well past the halfway point for the month of July, which means we must be closing in on the arrival of new content for the indie-developed video game, Hollow Knight.

Team Cherry announced back in the first half of June that a batch of free content, titled "Hidden Dreams," would be arriving sometime in July for the studio's immensely popular game, which released to critical acclaim earlier this year for its engaging gameplay and beautiful soundtrack.

The announcement was released over the Hollow Knight Steam store page, where the developers revealed a wealth of details on Hidden Dreams. According to the post, players will have access to 2 new, optional bosses with which they can engage in "epic new duels" to earn special rewards, though no details have yet been released on the nature of these rewards.

Additional content included in Hidden Dreams will provide two new tracks (a big deal to fans of the game's hauntingly pretty music), a new method of traversing Hollownest called "Dream Gate," and a newly accessible stag station, which is Hollow Knight's take on a stage coach.

Hollow Knight is available for PC, Linux, Mac, and, soon, the Nintendo Switch at $14.99. If you've ever found yourself wanting to play a Dark Souls/Metroidvania hybrid, it's definitely worth a pick-up!

Update

Hidden Dreams has been delayed; the free content will now be available on August 3. Check out the developer's blog post for more information.
