Summer Games Done Quick releases official 2017 schedule

A number of classic games are on tap.

Charity marathon organization Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) have released their final schedule for their 2017 summer event.

The schedule primarily lists a host of classic games (Metroid Prime, Halo, Banjo-Kazooie) from the past couple of decades alongside their associated speed runners, with a collection of more recent titles (Hollow Knight, Dishonored 2) thrown in as well. The event will run from Sunday, July 2nd at 12:30 PM until the finale on July 9th at 2:20 AM.

Summer Games Done Quick is a semiannual charity marathon event that broadcasts live as 'speed runners' try to complete games as quickly as possible while showcasing their strategies, discussing various trivia about the game, and generally putting on a show for the viewers.

Meanwhile, the organization accepts donations for charity from its viewers. Last year SGDQ accepted over $1,301,000 for Doctors Without Borders, breaking a new record and raising more than their Awesome Games Done Quick Winter (AGDQ) counterpart.

This year's event will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the City Center. Those interested in watching the event will be able to tune in on the official SGDQ homepage, or on their Twitch.tv stream, where older events are still available for viewing.
