Details emerge on former WWE champion's return from hiatus

He's finally coming back.

WWE superstar John Cena hasn't been seen on WWE television since WrestleMania 33, where he proposed to longtime girlfriend Nikki Bella.

Cena, who has transitioned into a part-time role with the company, is coming back at least for one night on July 4, according to a new report.

Via WrestleZone:

"WWE will be returning to the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, AZ on Monday, July 3rd for Raw and Tuesday, July 4th for Smackdown. As of this writing, WWE is advertising John Cena for the July 4th Smackdown Live. This is the only WWE for which Cena is being advertised."

Smackdown Live brought in Shinsuke Nakamura to replace Cena in the Superstar Shakeup as the special attraction for the brand, but it still wasn't clear how often the latter would be away from the company to pursue other ventures.

It's worth noting, too, that Cena is only being advertised for this one night, so it's unclear as to whether or not he'll be returning to build for a Summerslam match or just another appearance before departing once again.
