On Monday Night Raw, Goldberg officially accepted Brock Lesnar’s WrestleMania challenge.

But in doing so, he also set up his next tilt, which will take place for the WWE Universal championship against Kevin Owens at WWE Fastlane on Sunday, March 5, ahead of WrestleMania.

If Goldberg wins, that means his matchup with Lesnar would be for the Raw brand’s championship.

Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar — WrestleMania 20

The first installment of this contest came all the way back at WrestleMania 20, when both superstars left the promotion to explore other avenues. It resulted in one of the worst WrestleMania matches ever:

Goldberg’s return

Brock Lesnar has worked as a part-timer for most of the last five years or so, but the former WCW and World Heavyweight champion, Goldberg, showed up just before Survivor Series to set up a return match with “The Beast Incarnate.”

After 12 years away from the ring, it only took one minute and 26 seconds for Goldberg to stun the WWE Universe with a brutal beating of Lesnar:

Royal Rumble showdown

Much was made of the next meeting of Lesnar and Goldberg at the Royal Rumble. But it turned out to be another dud, with the former WCW superstar making easy work of Lesnar.

We’ll see if their WrestleMania match is anything different.
