WWE legend announces big-time return to his “home team"

This is really cool.

Longtime WWE announcer Jim Ross made a surprise return at WrestleMania 33, where he called the main event that featured Roman Reigns vs. The Undertaker. After his return, many fans and writers have been speculating and wondering what this means for Ross's future with the WWE.

Ross cleared all that up by confirming that he is returning to WWE after signing a new deal with the company.

Via Fox Sports:

"It has a specific number of dates that I'm obligated to work, which I think is good for me," Ross said. "So look at it this way: I got my jersey back. I got brought back to my home team, and my opportunities back in WWE, I'm sure, will be multi-fold."

It certainly sounds as though Ross will be a utility announcer of sorts, where he won't be the full-time play-by-play guy for any of the major shows, but we will still see him where he's needed by the company to pop in.

Ross goes on to say to Fox Sports:

"I hope to have more 'fun part' assignments in the future, but I've got my jersey back," he reiterated. "So if the team needs me to play, to work more than they anticipated because they need it, I'm in."

Ross seems open to doing more, if asked, so it should be interesting to see what the future holds for Ross in the WWE, especially with the current status of WWE announcer Mauro Ranallo.
