WWE legend Mick Foley has surprising response about blood in wrestling

Didn't expect this from the WWE Hall of Famer.

Mick Foley is one of the most recognizable people in wrestling history. The hardcore legend is known for the ridiculous stunts he pulled off in his career: getting thrown off the Hell in a Cell at King of the Ring in 1998 and getting speared through a flaming table at WrestleMania 22 come to mind immediately.

Oh, and he lost his ear in a wrestling match once. And the match kept going!

Considering all of that, it makes it even more surprising when Foley somewhat took a stance against the use of blood in modern professional wrestling.

These tweets came after a match at NXT Takeover in Dallas, which is one of the events that WWE has put on in the lead up to WrestleMania 32 on Sunday. The match in question was between Samoa Joe and Finn Balor, and it saw Joe get legitimately cut early in the match. Instead of just letting the blood go on like wrestling has often done in the past, the match was stopped momentarily several times to clean up the blood and to try and close the wound.

The match would go on to its normal finish, but the unplanned stoppages left many fans yearning for the days of Ric Flair wearing a crimson mask of blood all around the ring for 30 minutes. Foley, who has bled more in a wrestling ring than most people probably have in their normal lives, put those fans on blast, appreciating WWE's renewed effort at safety in these situations.

And besides, Mick Foley sort of has a thing for EMTs running in on his matches.
