Tragic details emerge on the death of famed 48-year-old MMA personality

RIP.

The MMA world lost a titan on Friday, as influential coach and founding member of Team Quest, Robert Follis passed away at the age of 48. While details were sparse over the weekend, Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com brought word on Monday that his tragic passing was ruled a suicide according to the Clark County Coroner's office in Nevada.

The death comes as a reported result of a gunshot wound to the head and, as you may expect, there has been quite a bit of reaction to the loss of Follis around the MMA community. Follis rose to prominence as a coach at XTreme Couture and was well-regarded for his work.

Myra Fukuno, who was Follis' girlfriend, passed along the following via Facebook as a way to help to mourn and gather memories and influential moments from the late figure.

"If you have a story about him or pictures you would like to share, please do so here so that all of us can may visit different parts of his life. If you would like to share something more privately, I've set up an email address that some family members will be able to access. Stories, photos, etc are welcome. We may not be able to respond, but please know that we will sort through them as part of our healing process. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Memorial service information will follow at a later time."

In addition, Fukuno passed along an email address ([email protected]) for such submissions.

Forty-eight is simply too young for anyone to pass and our prayers are with his friends and family at this time.
