Former NBA All-Star shot while trying to protect children

He played six NBA seasons.

Former NBA All-Star Brandon Roy was reportedly shot in the leg while shielding children at his grandmother's house over the weekend when someone randomly opened fire, per USA Today.

"Roy was treated in Southern California, but has already returned to Washington state while he recovers, according to King5 TV in Seattle. The incident happened over the weekend according to the outlet."

Roy played six NBA seasons, but his career was cut short by debilitating knee injuries.

He shot 45 percent from the field and averaged 18 points per game over his career.

Roy was a former Rookie of the Year and three-time NBA All-Star.
