Michael Beasley is only 28, but his career hasn’t exactly turned out how you’d expect from a former No. 2 overall pick. He was taken second by the Miami Heat behind Derrick Rose in 2008, but hasn’t made an All-Star game and was even in China for a season during his athletic prime.

Beasley is trying to revive his career with the New York Knicks, but he still maintains that he is as talented as some of the best players in the NBA. He told Bleacher Report’s Yaron Weitzman that he thinks he matches up with Kevin Durant and LeBron James.

“As far as talent-wise, I match up with Kevin [Durant], LeBron [James], I match up with the best guys in the world,” Beasley said. “I’m not being cocky; it’s just always how I felt. But I got into trouble as soon as I got into the NBA, and it left a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths.”

Beasley is entering his 10th season in the NBA, and he’s averaged 12.6 points per game during his career. He’s likely going to be a role player for the Knicks, which isn’t exactly what you’d expect from a player who thinks he’s on par with LeBron and KD.

This isn’t the first time Beasley has had interesting comments lately. He shared his thoughts on how much humans use their brains, and his answer was… something.

Maybe Beasley has a breakout year with the Knicks in 2018, but I don’t think he’ll be in the MVP race with Durant and LeBron.
