Former NBA player tragically passes away at just 35

We send our thoughts and prayers to his family at this time.

According to the Clarion-Ledger, former Ole Miss and Boston Celtics player Justin Reed has passed away. He was only 35 years old.

Reed had been battling angiosarcoma, a form of cancer that afflicts the blood vessels. According to Mississippi Today, Reed was diagnosed with the disease a few months ago, with its effects on his spine paralyzing from the waist down.

Reed played for four seasons at Ole Miss, peaking in his senior season by averaging 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He was eventually taken in the second round of the 2004 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. He played 136 games over three seasons for the Celtics and Timberwolves before his career in the NBA ended.

We send our thoughts and prayers to Reed's family and friends as they deal with this difficult time.
