After spending his entire career with the Cowboys, another defensive starter is gone

The defections on defense continue.

The Dallas Cowboys are losing another defensive starter to free agency after Morris Claiborne opted to sign with the New York Jets during free agency.

Fellow cornerback Brandon Carr left the Cowboys to join the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday. Safety Barry Church signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and safety J.J. Wilcox signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this offseason.

The Cowboys drafted Claiborne with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2012 draft. He spent five years with the franchise, and he compiled four interceptions during his tenure in Dallas, and he started 43 games during that stretch.

Dallas will have several defensive starters to replace during free agency and in the upcoming draft.

Claiborne will likely replace Darrelle Revis with the Jets. Revis was released earlier this month.
