The Green Bay Packers fell short of making the Super Bowl last season but it wasn't by a wide margin. Aaron Rodgers and company were, of course, blitzed by the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship Game to the tune of a 44-21 margin but the collapse of the Falcons in the Super Bowl overshadowed what was an uneven (at best) performance from the Packers in the previous contest.
With that said, the Packers still made the "final four" among NFL teams and expectations are always high for the team. That is what made the loss of offensive guard T.J. Lang all the more baffling in some respects, as the veteran signed with the Detroit Lions. To that end, Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel brings word that the coaching staff was "incensed" by the decision from the front office not to win the bidding war.
Lang isn't a superstar but it is easy to see why those inside the organization don't love this move. Frankly, it is largely because the loss of Lang makes the team worse right now. Throw in the fact that Rodgers has not been shy about chirping with regard to Green Bay's cautious personnel approach and this is a situation worth monitoring in the coming weeks and months.
