Colts hint they sat Luck because Rex Ryan blitzes too much during preseason. Good move, Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts sat Andrew Luck because Rex Ryan likes to blitz too much.

The Indianapolis Colts held on to beat Buffalo 19-18 in a preseason game with starter Andrew Luck on the bench. It's not uncommon for starters to have limited playing time (or none at all) in early preseason games.

But Colts owner Jim Irsay wrote on Twitter, the organization sat their starter because the Bills, led by head coach Rex Ryan, blitz too much for what amounts to a meaningless game.

Indianapolis backups Scott Tolzien and Stephen Morris combined to throw for 244 passing yards and two touchdowns. They both escaped without injury from the Bills' defense.

Three healthy quarterbacks and a preseason win? Good move, Colts.
