ESPN is now axing an entire show amidst extreme layoffs

This seems extreme.

The ESPN layoffs are still making waves around Bristol and, this time, it is the NFL coverage that will be affected directly. Awful Announcing brings word that the network will be putting an end to its NFL Insiders show after almost four years and it sheds light on the situation in this way.

... It will cancel NFL Insiders which premiered in 2013 and had run from 1:30 until 2 p.m. That means that NFL Live will expand from 60 to 90 minutes and run from 1:30 p.m. starting May 22 and according to the Worldwide Leader, it will incorporate "many of the elements from the NFL Insiders program."

Have no fear, NFL fans. There will be plenty of content about the league in the afternoon time slot vacated by the program.

Trey Wingo, Suzy Kolber and Wendi Nix will share hosting responsibilities, working with a core group of NFL analysts Tedy Bruschi, Ryan Clark, Herm Edwards and Louis Riddick; with appearances by Matt Hasselbeck and Steve Young; plus insiders Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter who will be on the show every day.

More than anything, this is a shuffling of the deck and, if Mortensen and Schefter are regulars on the new programming, very little will change. Still, things continue to move around for ESPN and the end isn't in sight just yet.
