ESPN's Jon Gruden believes a surprising name to be the most NFL ready quarterback in the draft

This is surprising.

The 2017 NFL Draft is just a few weeks away, and the one of the most interesting subplots of the upcoming draft is where the quarterbacks ultimately land. Former Pittsburgh Panthers' quarterback Nate Peterman isn't going to be the first quarterback taken, but ESPN's Jon Gruden likes the kid a lot and lauded his play.

Gruden, via conference call, revealed that he believes four quarterbacks will go in the first round, and thinks Peterman has a shot at being the fourth quarterback taken.

Gruden also thinks Peterman is the most NFL ready quarterback in the draft.

But that's not all. Gruden had to say about Peterman. On the call, Gruden said if he went back into coaching and needed a quarterback immediately, he'd go with Peterman.

The Nate Peterman Hype Train is certainly starting to pick up steam, which is kind of reminiscent to the hype surrounding another Panthers' quarterback, Tom Savage, a few years ago.

Peterman threw for 2,855 yards and 27 touchdowns to just seven interceptions in 2016 for the Pittsburgh Panthers.
