Lions defender has no shame in taking his opponent to suplex city

That's the stuff of dreams.

There is a reason why the Detroit Lions selected Jarrad Davis with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

He comes to play every time he touches the field. He was an intense player with the Florida Gators and the rookie linebacker is maintaining that intensity in Detroit.

We saw that on Sunday in the Lions' 35-23 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Late in the game, Carson Palmer completed a pass to tight end Jermaine Gresham, and Davis was there to make the play — a play that Kurt Angle would have tried to make.

Now, everyone loves an intense effort on the gridiron — especially when it's coming from your team. But the game was all but wrapped up for the Lions, and Davis heard from Larry Fitzgerald immediately after the play was made.

We don't want anyone getting hurt, and we really don't want anyone getting hurt in a Week 1 matchup that was basically on cruise control until the end of regulation.

If Davis is going to make plays like that, surely Detroit fans would rather see them come against the Green Bay Packers.
