Patriots take Super Bowl trolling the Falcons to the next level ahead of season-opener

OH MY!

We all thought it was over. Even many Patriots fans believed there was no coming back.

Seriously, when you're trailing, 28-3, with fewer than three minutes remaining in the third quarter, you tend to think things are bleak.

But to New England's credit, it marched back against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI and — thanks to some miraculous heroics by Julian Edelman — won its fifth championship since Tom Brady took the reins of the offense.

However, collecting five Lombardi trophies and having a sideline seat to watch one of the NFL's greatest quarterbacks isn't enough. The Patriots felt the need to ... be a little extra on Thursday night, prior to their Week 1 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Instead of just warming up and going to work, some people on New England's staff decided to troll the Falcons by coloring the scoreboard with the 28-3 score and the time remaining left in the third quarter before the Patriots' comeback.

The troll game is strong in Foxboro.

Luckily for Atlanta, a chance for payback will come sooner rather than later. The Falcons visit the Patriots on Oct. 22 for an 8:30 p.m. ET kickoff on NBC.

There is no doubting Atlanta will have a little extra motivation going into that game.
