NFL's first female ref gets knocked out of game after brutal sideline hit

This looks like it hurt.

NFL line judge Sarah Thomas was briefly knocked out of Saturday's game against Minnesota and Green Bay following this huge collision on the sideline.

While the replay looks like Thomas may have had her head snapped back into the turf, it appears that is not what caused any injury. ESPN reports that Thomas left the game to have her wrist checked on, but that she was eventually able to return to her duties on the sideline.

Thomas was the first — and currently the only — female ref in the NFL. She was also the first female official in major college football when she made her collegiate debut back in 2007.
