Patriots reportedly signing former first rounder days after he was cut

That seems like a pretty good signing.

The New England Patriots are reportedly close to signing former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Kenny Britt, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

Britt was waived by the Browns on Friday as the team transitioned to a new general manager and began to clear cap space. The Browns signed Britt to a four-year, $32.5 million contract in March, but the team clearly viewed waiving Britt as an opportunity to clear cap space as they continue to rebuild.

Britt only had 18 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns in nine games this season with the Browns, but is coming off of a career-high 1,002 yards receiving last season with the Miami Dolphins. By adding Britt, the Patriots give quarterback Tom Brady another reliable option as the team heads into the final three games of the season.
