Report: One NFL team nearly traded up in the Draft to replace their Super Bowl winning QB

This is nuts.

The Kansas City Chiefs traded up for Texas Tech Red Raider Patrick Mahomes, and although the Chiefs were the team lucky enough to strike a deal, another Super Bowl contender reportedly tried to move up to take Mahomes, too.

According to Anita Marks of ESPN, the New York Giants tried to trade for Mahomes, but obviously it didn't come to fruition.

Not only did the Giants try to reportedly trade up to take Mahomes, they were reportedly 'very upset' about not landing the gunslinger from Texas Tech.

With Eli Manning still entrenched as the starter in New York, it is somewhat surprising head coach Ben McAdoo and the front office really wanted to find Manning's eventual replacement in this draft.

Manning struggled down the stretch in 2016, and with the Giants reportedly going hard after finding their quarterback of the future in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, it certainly looks like Manning's time in New York is almost up.
