Report: The NFL’s hottest commodity could eventually take over this top gig

That's pretty interesting.

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will be one of the most sought after coaches during the offseason and several franchises will target him as their top candidate for head coaching vacancies.

However, according to Pro Football Talk, McDaniels' name was left off of the NFL's Career Development Advisory Panel's list of recommended candidates for possible openings for coaches and general managers.

A source told Pro Football Talk McDaniels was left off of the list because there is speculation he will succeed Bill Belichick as the next head coach of the Patriots. Belichick is the second oldest coach in the NFL behind Pete Carroll, although he is unlikely to retire as long as Tom Brady is still playing at an MVP level.

McDaniels was previously the head coach for the Denver Broncos, where he went 11-17 in two seasons.
