Former world champ and pro wrestling free agent reportedly on his way to WWE after months of speculation

Finally!

After months of speculation, former Ring of Honor champion Adam Cole (BAY BAY) has reportedly signed with WWE to join the NXT brand, multiple sources confirmed to PWInsider.com.

According to the website, Cole, 28, will begin training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida this week.

Earlier this year, Cole became the first three-time ROH Champion in company history and had previously held the promotion's TV title. He is also a former PWG champion, CZW Junior Heavyweight champion and has held numerous other titles in the past.

The timing of the deal makes sense with NXT scheduled to host its biggest annual show, NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, this weekend.

WWE has used its biggest TakeOver events to showcase some of its previous big signings in the audience during matches including current NXT Champion Bobby Roode at TakeOver: Dallas and No. 1 contender Drew McIntyre at NXT TakeOver: Orlando.

That could be the company's way of debuting Cole, who was arguably the biggest free agent in professional wrestling leading up to his reported deal.
