NFL free agent DeAngelo Williams appears to be joining WWE's biggest rival

Quite the career change.

Former NFL running back DeAngelo Williams is moving on from his professional football career and heading to a career in professional wrestling, according to a new report from Brian Campbell at CBS Sports.

Williams, who has already appeared on Impact Wrestling alongside superstar Moose, is reportedly going to wrestle alongside him, too, as his tag-team partner this summer.

The promotion hasn't been shy about teasing Williams' involvement with the company for future dates. On June 5, Impact Wrestling tweeted out a video of Williams in Nashville at the company's HQ for an undisclosed reason.

Campbell goes on to cite the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer in the story, too.

Via CBS Sports:

"Williams is expected to enter the ring at Impact's Slammiversary XV pay-per-view on July 2 in Orlando, Florida. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Williams will compete alongside Moose in a tag team match against Chris Adonis and Eli Drake."

It's going to be interesting to see what kind of role Williams has within the the company going forward. Pairing him with Moose, another former NFL player, makes sense, and it should be interesting to see what Williams is capable of in the ring.
