WWE announces title match for Monday Night Raw

He'll return Monday night.

Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore has missed some action as of late due to an illness. Directly thanks to that, a silver lining in this otherwise gloomy cloud has emerged. The WWE announced on Sunday that Amore will defend his championship against Cedric Alexander during Monday Night Raw.

The match was actually originally scheduled to take place last week, but was scrapped when Amore was forced into a hospital.

Alexander qualified for the No. 1 contender spot after defeating Drew Gulak on Monday Night Raw several weeks ago. He took Rich Swann's place after the cruiserweight contender was arrested.

As for Amore, WWE has already officially ruled him out from the upcoming Mixed Match Challenge. A somewhat weird move since he's obviously been cleared to wrestle and that Mixed Match Challenge is still in the future. The Mixed Match Challenge is scheduled to air on Facebook on January 16.

Amore is a two-time champion since branching out on his own. His second reign has lasted more than 70 days, with wins over Kalisto twice since he won the belt at WWE TLC.

With Raw battling a pretty big college football game on Monday night, a title-swap could help bolster ratings. Keep that in mind when these two cruiserweights doing battle during Raw.
