WWE responds following reports of former champion walking out on the company

His absence caused a stir this week.

Neville's absence from Monday Night RAW and 205 Live this week caused a stir among the WWE Universe.

On Tuesday, F4wonline reported that the former Cruiserweight champion requested his release from WWE after leaving RAW early on Monday night. The report also claimed that he was initially scheduled to lose to then-champion Enzo Amore in a lumberjack match, but was instead replaced by Kalisto, who defeated Amore for the title.

ProWrestlingSheet.com also reported that despite not being able to confirm Neville's departure, most sources have said that there appears to "be some truth in that claim."

However, "numerous WWE sources" have denied that Neville requested his release from the company, according to PWinsider.

Neville hasn't appeared on WWE television since last week's episode of RAW. His last televised match took place against Ariya Daivari during a Sept. 26 episode of 205 Live, but he has since appeared at house show events as well.

Neville, dubbed as the "King of the Cruiserweights," is the longest-reigning Cruiserweight champion since the title was brought back last September. He leads all former champions with a single reign of 197 days and a combined reign of 233 recognized by WWE.

Neville is also a former NXT Champion and two-time NXT tag-team champion, having won alongside Oliver Grey and current WWE announcer Corey Graves.
