6’3”, 4-star WR Kenan Jones decommits from hometown program

Kenan Jones took back his pledge to a local program.

Four-star 2018 wide receiver Kenan Jones hails from Berwick High School (La.) and, as a result, it makes perfect sense that he would commit to play for Ed Orgeron and company at LSU. In fact, Jones did just that at the end of January. However, his pledge to play for the Tigers did not last particularly long, as Jones took to Twitter on Friday to announce his decommitment from his hometown program.

Jones, who stands at 6'3 and 205 pounds, was a member of the 10-man class committed to LSU and his defection could have long-reaching impact. He ranks as one of the top 250 prospects nationally part of the 2018 class and while Jones isn't necessarily a superstar in the making, he occupies a position of great need for the Tigers moving forward.

It is important to note that many feel Jones will end up back with LSU at some point along the way but we also can't assume that the one-time partnership will reconnect. Until then, it will be interesting to see what steps are taken by Orgeron and his staff to address the need at wide receiver. Sometimes, you can go home again but, in this case, it isn't a given anymore.
