A decorated veteran was beaten and robbed because he refused to answer this one question

Absolutely vicious.

Decorated Marine and eight year veteran of the Iraq War, Chris Marquez, was having a burger at McDonald's when a rowdy group of teens came in. The group of five individuals believed to be between the ages of 16 and 21, started taunting Marquez.

"They asked me if I believe that black lives matter," Marquez said. "I felt threatened and thought they were trying to intimidate me, so I figured I'm just going to keep to my food, eat my food, and hopefully they'll leave me alone. And because I wasn't responding back to them, they were calling me a racist."

What followed is a little fuzzy in Marquez's memory, because of a blow to the head, but with a review of the video footage he and the McDonald's manager put together what followed.

"As soon as I walked out of the McDonald's I got hit in the back of the head, or the side of the head. I just dropped to the ground, and he says I looked unconscious," Marquez told ABC7.
