A potential top-10 pick made a surprising decision leading up to the NFL draft

One possible top-10 pick makes a surprising decision prior to the NFL Draft.

Christian McCaffrey has skyrocketed up draft boards since his performance the NFL Combine, and most analysts consider him at least a top-15 pick in the upcoming draft, and perhaps a top-10 pick.

Given the fact that he will likely be drafted high, McCaffrey has decided to decline all private workout requests from NFL teams.

It's not uncommon for highly sought after prospects to skip private workouts if they are certain they will be a top pick. Prospects who might be borderline picks are more likely to accept workout invitations so they can prove to teams they are worthy of being drafted higher.

McCaffrey is the No. 2 back in the upcoming draft behind Leonard Fournette, and two analysts on NFL.com have McCaffrey being selected at No. 8 by the Carolina Panthers.

While at Stanford, McCaffrey was a dynamic playmaker as a running back, receiver and returner. He finished as the runner-up to Derrick Henry for the 2015 Heisman Trophy, and rushed for over 2,000 yards that season.

Skipping private workouts likely won't affect McCaffrey's draft stock, but it will be intriguing to see if other top prospects choose to do the same prior to the draft at the end of April.
