A pro wrestler's career may be over after suffering a grave-looking injury at a recent show

A very scary situation out of Japan.

Pro wrestling fans are fearing the worst after one performer suffered an awful injury at a show in Japan.

New Japan Pro Wrestling's (NJPW) Tomoaki Honma had to be stretchered out of a tag match after suffering a neck injury while taking a DDT off the ropes.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Honma's feet got caught in the ropes while taking the move, which caused him to land directly on his head. Homna reportedly was unresponsive as he was stretchered out of the ring and taken to the hospital.

Details are limited on the severity of the injury, with NJPW releasing a statement saying that Honma suffered damage to his cervical vertebrae, which could indicate a broken neck. Honma has been taken off scheduled events for the time being.

Honma, 40, is a 20-year veteran of pro wrestling in Japan. He was scheduled to challenge for the IWGP tag team titles with Togi Makabe on Monday.

This story will be updated as we learn more on Honma's condition.
