After impressive win, Washington still might not make the College Football Playoff

The college football world would lose its mind.

No. 4 Washington stomped out Colorado, 41-10, in the Pac-12 championship Friday night. During a television spot Saturday morning during ESPN's GameDay, the College Football Playoff selection committee chair Kirby Hocutt made it clear that Washington (12-1, lone loss to USC) and No. 5 Michigan (10-2, losses to Iowa and No. 2 Ohio State) were separated by a very slim margin last week.

A team lacking quality wins, Washington got just that with a dominant victory over Colorado. As the committee has said before, margin of victory doesn't matter, so it really just comes down to holding a conference championship over a team that doesn't have one.

So is Washington guaranteed into the playoff? Some believe so.

But others aren't quite as convinced, leaving the door open for chaos:

We'll have to wait to see what the always unpredictable College Football Playoff committee says after it gets together following championship weekend.
