Florida State running back Dalvin Cook led the ACC in pretty much every important rushing category in 2015. Yards, touchdowns, yards per carry, yards per game... he led all of those categories and it wasn't really that close.
Apparently that wasn't enough to garner the now-junior running a unanimous All-ACC preseason selection, as the votes from the annual ACC Kickoff show that Cook fell seven votes short of the honor. North Carolina's Elijah Hood and Clemson Wayne Gallman garnered the second and third most votes at the running back position.
If the preseason teams were limited to just one running back slot, then this would make more sense. While Cook may be the best in the ACC at the position, it is understandable how someone might give a pick to another running back. This philosophy can be witnessed with the All-ACC quarterback vote, where Clemson's Deshaun Watson fell three votes short of a unanimous selection.
However, since there are two running back spots on the team, how does one really justify two ACC running backs over Cook? It's a lapse in judgement at best, and a complete showing of bias at worst. Cook — and the aforementioned Watson, to be fair — should have been a unanimous selection for the preseason All-ACC team without any doubt.

If it is any consolation to both players, they are both currently in the Top 5 for Heisman odds over at Bovada. Watson is second at +450, while Cook is tied for fourth at +1200.
