An astounding number of people believe Ohio State can beat the Cleveland Browns

Urban Meyer and Ohio State are apparently seen in high esteem by residents of the state they occupy.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are one of the best teams in college football and Urban Meyer has things rolling in Columbus. In fact, the Buckeyes are seen in such high esteem within the borders of their own state that the majority of people apparently believe that OSU could knock off the Cleveland Browns on the football field.

Public Policy Polling survey of Ohio took a deep dive into various things, including the presidential election, but in addition to finding that Meyer is the second-most popular person in the state (behind LeBron James), they dropped in this nugget about the Browns against the Buckeyes:

Urban Meyer might be the next most popular person in the state, with 55% of voters seeing him favorably to 7% who have a negative opinion of him. He has another thing going for him too- 62% of voters in the state think Ohio State would win a football game against the Cleveland Browns, to only 23% who think the NFL team would prevail.

There should be all kinds of caveats as to the legitimacy of the polling data here, but at first glance, it is hilarious. The Browns might be the worst team in the NFL by a comfortable margin, but at the same time, that is a professional roster loaded with talent that would dominate at the college level, and the thought of even an awesome college team beating them between the white lines is absurd.

The people of Ohio have spoken, but they happen to be (quite) wrong in this case.
