Another college team has been punished after disgusting, misogynistic comments about women

A fourth college athletic team faces harsh sanctions after the discovery of lewd behavior

Members of the Amherst College men's cross country team are facing suspension after allegedly making degrading comments about women in several emails.

According to an Associated Press report, officials at the school said Monday that an unspecified number of students will be suspended and the team will be placed on probation for a period that will run through the fall of next year.

The sanctions are reportedly in response to an investigation into emails some of the team members sent from 2013 to 2015 that were said to be racist and misogynist, and at times were accompanied by pictures of female students.

The emails also included comments about the women's sexual histories, the report states, with some referred to as "meat slabs" and "a walking STD."

The school reportedly first suspended the team's activities last month after the student magazine The Indicator published an article detailing the emails.

The news comes on the heels of strikingly similar incidents at Harvard and Columbia.

In November, administrators at prestigious Harvard University canceled the soccer team's season after explicit scouting reports from 2012 surfaced that rated female athletes on their appearance and made suggestions about their favorite sexual positions.

Also at Harvard, the men's cross country team was placed on athletic probation for creating spreadsheets that sexually evaluated their female counterparts.

At Columbia, university officials cancelled a wrestling meet in November after some of its members were found to have written and disseminated racist and sexist text messages.
