Another NFL contender makes its decision on Adrian Peterson

He is a former MVP, seven-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro, with a 2,000-yard season under his belt.

Adrian Peterson is still a free agent, which means either his price has been too high or NFL teams are wary about inking a 32-year-old veteran running back with plenty of miles on his career.

Another team thought to have interest — the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — definitely is "NOT in the Bucs plans," per TampaBay.com.

That means Tampa Bay would rather roll with Doug Martin, who will miss the first three contests due to violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy, Jacquizz Rodgers, Charles Sims and Peyton Barber. It also comes after a workout involving Peterson, Jameis Winston and Mike Evans:

Peterson wasn't great in his first season over 30 years old, rushing for 72 yards over three games and putting up career lows across the board. Whether that was from not having Teddy Bridgewater to take pressure off of the running game or what, AP looked horrendous before suffering what became a season-ending torn meniscus.
