Another NFL head coach has gotten axed not even a day after his season ended

He started with two 9-7 seasons in his first years as the head coach.

The San Diego Chargers have fired head coach Mike McCoy:

After two 9-7 seasons in his first years as the head coach, McCoy's Chargers have dropped to 4-12 and 5-11 over the last pair of campaigns.

McCoy is the third head coach to lose his job (following Jeff Fisher, L.A. Rams and Gus Bradley, Jacksonville Jaguars).

The Chargers are expected to make a push to move to Los Angeles as well.

According to CBS, the coaching search started before he was even fired. McCoy could land again as an offensive coordinator with young franchise quarterbacks (Rams, Jaguars or Minnesota Vikings were listed as possible spots).
