Auburn hires Wesley McGriff as co-defensive coordinator

Auburn announced on Thursday that they have hired Wesley McGriff as secondary coach and co-defensive coordinator.

McGriff comes from the New Orleans Saints, where he has spent the past three seasons working with Sean Payton. McGriff also has stops with Ole Miss and Vanderbilt to his name to go with his 25-year coaching career.

"I'm very pleased to add Wesley to our staff at Auburn," head coach Gus Malzahn said about the hiring via Auburn's press release. "He has a tremendous amount of experience and success in developing players at the college and NFL levels. Wesley's a true professional and a man of character that will be a great coach and mentor for our players."

McGriff will be joining Kevin Steele on the staff, who was hired earlier in the week to takeover for Will Muschamp as the defensive coordinator. Muschamp left the program after taking the position of head coach at South Carolina.
