It was Oct. 24, 2009, it was Alabama vs. Tennessee, and it was then Vols coach Lane Kiffin trying to pull the upset against the Tide. It was the “Third Saturday in October.” It was undefeated, No. 1 Alabama vs Tennessee. Alabama had come back to take the lead late from upset-minded Tennessee. But Lane Kiffin’s Vols put together a string of late plays to get within field-goal range to go for the upset.
Enter Terrence Cody. Cody had already blocked one kick that day, and again would step up big for the Tide to preserve the win and keep the Tide on course for their first national championship under Nick Saban and 13th overall.
And no Alabama player directed the band.
