Clay Travis says there’s only one way the Ed Orgeron hire won’t be a total disaster

LSU decided to remove the interim tag and hire Ed Orgeron as its next head coach, and the hire was received with mixed results.

Fox Sports radio host Clay Travis said the only way the Orgeron hire will be successful for LSU is if he is able to hire Lane Kiffin as his offensive coordinator and maintain Dave Aranda —- who has just been promoted to associate head coach —- as his defensive coordinator.

Orgeron worked on Kiffin's staff at USC, and he served as the interim coach at USC after Kiffin was fired. Travis said the only way he could see Kiffin staying at Alabama is if they made him the coach-in-waiting and he took over the program after Saban retires.

Kiffin is in his third season as Alabama's offensive coordinator, and the Crimson Tide are a lock to make the playoff field for the third straight season. If Orgeron is able to hire him away from Nick Saban, it would be a massive hire for LSU and a blow to Alabama.
