Colin Cowherd says Bill Belichick is so cold Tom Brady's future with the Patriots may be in danger

Could Bill Belichick do the unimaginable? One pundit thinks so

Bill Belichick is the definition of a cold as steel head coach who could cut a player on Christmas Day without so much as a second thought.

Oh, wait. He actually did that to Asante Cleveland back in 2015. But the idea that he could do that to Tom Brady, the face of the New England Patriots and maybe even the NFL, is unthinkable.

Unless you ask sports personality Colin Cowherd, who's suggesting that if Brady plays poorly against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Sunday's AFC Championship game, he could end up on the block.

"...This idea that Brady is bulletproof, Bill Belichick has never show you once in his life that he's going to give a guy an extra year," Cowherd said Thursday on FS1's The Herd with Colin Cowherd. "He's always shown you he'll cut a guy a year early. If Tom Brady lays an egg...If Tom is awful again, 47 percent completion (percentage) at Foxboro, you don't think Bill's gonna have those thoughts? You're crazy."

Cowherd also suggested that with backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo waiting in the wings, who he calls a franchise quarterback, Brady's situation becomes even more tenuous.

Wild assertions abound there. You can't put anything past Belichick, but you have to imagine that if anyone will ever be given the benefit of the doubt, the chance to prove that he still does have at least one more good season in him, it's Brady.
